On Sunday,  November 17th, 2024, a ship transiting the Red Sea, approximately 25 nautical miles west of Al-Mukha, Yemen, reported a missile splashdown in the water nearby, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency.

Two German naval ships are taking a longer, safer route around Africa rather than risk passage through the Red Sea, where Yemen’s Houthi rebels have recently escalated attacks on maritime traffic.

In a dramatic escalation of maritime conflict in the Red Sea, the Greek-owned bulk carrier Laax has sustained significant damage after being struck by three missiles off the coast of Yemen, as reported by maritime security firm Ambrey on Tuesday.

A suspected attack drone targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea was successfully shot down by a Royal Navy warship, HMS Diamond, according to Britain's defense secretary, Grant Shapps.
