It is understood that CEVA Logistics, which is part of the CMA CGM conglomerate, will be introducing itself into the car carrier segment.
Chartering four vessels, this is the culmination of the creation of a 10-year agreement with Eastern Pacific Shipping, where a new department has been made within CMA CGM dedicated to special maritime shipping operations.
Emmanuel Cheremetisnki, the Global FVL Leader at CEVA Logistics, said the following in this announcement:
“As the automotive supply chain continues to stabilize from numerous shocks over the past several years, we have remained close to our customers to understand their challenges and growth opportunities".
“The decision to operate four deep-sea RoRos is a clear example of our promise of responsive logistics."
"With such a large need for additional capacity, we found a solution that allows us to co-create long-term value with our customers in the global economy by improving the go-to-market conditions for their finished vehicles.”
About the LNG Car Carriers...
It is understood that each of the four LNG car carriers will be 72,000 gross tons and 656 feet in length, featuring 12 cargo decks, which enables capacity for 7,000 cars.
CEVA Logistics believes that with the four carriers, around 140,000 vehicles will be able to be handled annually.
What remains clear is that this is a new part of the market that CEVA Logistics & CMA CGM are wanting to hit the ground running with, in order to secure more valuable revenue moving forward.
With the 10-year agreement as well, this would be the equivalent of 1.4m cars transported as a result!
